Northern Upright 3.75-inch chess pieces are a classic set in a historical European style, designed for players who prefer a traditional pre-Staunton look and a practical size for regular play.
The set includes 34 chess pieces: 16 light pieces, 16 dark pieces and two additional queens, one in each colour. That makes pawn promotion easier to manage in longer games.
The pieces are made from boxwood. The light pieces keep the natural wood colour, while the dark pieces are black-stained. Their upright profile and detailed carving give the set its distinctive Northern Upright character.
This set is made in No. 6 size and is recommended for boards with 50 or 55 mm squares.
